Dr Matthew Biermann

Matthew is a board certified orthodontist who was born and raised in Portland.

His exposure to dentistry is lifelong; his father, Dr Michael Biermann is a Portland pediatric dentist. Matthew has long been a part of the orthodontic practice, having had his teeth (as did his entire family!) straightened by Dick as a teenager.

His undergraduate degree from the University of Oregon is in biology and chemistry. He practiced general dentistry after graduating from OHSU. Dr Biermann's residency in orthodontics was at Marquette University in Wisconsin.

Matthew enjoys spending time with his fiance, Erin, playing racquetball, scuba diving, snowboarding, mountain biking, running and playing golf.

Dr Dick Carter

Dick graduated from the University of Oregon Dental School, following undergraduate studies at PSU, where his special interest was Russian history.

His orthodontic residency was at Temple University, Philadelphia, where he received a masters degree in facial growth at adolescence. During college, Dick worked as a commercial artist; memorable jobs were calligraphy and credit lettering for NBC television in New York, and lettering Tom McCall’s RV for his campaigns for Secretary of State and Governor of Oregon.

Dick has lectured nationally and internationally on orthodontics, especially adult treatment and surgical orthodontics.

He is the author of over 20 professional papers, including articles translated and published in Spanish, Japanese, and German. He has twice been a keynote speaker at the annual international meeting of the American Association of Orthodontists.
