SureSmile

SureSmile is a state-of-the-art computerized treatment planning and appliance customization system that offers significant advantages over previously available orthodontic systems.

Unlike conventional orthodontics, which relies on plaster models and 2-D imaging, SureSmile gives the orthodontist a detailed 3-D computer model of the patient’s teeth that can precisely plot individual tooth movement through the entire course of treatment – from start to finish.

Additionally, using high-tech wires customized through a robotic process, the orthodontist can move each tooth to the target position more directly and in less time than with conventional methods. As a result, patients experience fewer wire changes and adjustments and in-office maintenance visits, while still achieving superior results.

“SureSmile technology is a perfect option for busy teens and adults who do not have time for frequent office visits or lengthy procedures,” says Dr. Biermann.

“With this system, my patients can now obtain the smiles they desire with less overall discomfort and shorter treatment time than before. SureSmile is the future of orthodontic care.”

Clear Braces

We have been using clear brackets since 1986, and specialize in esthetic braces that are safe and easy to use.

We generally use clear brackets on the visible upper front teeth, and traditional metal brackets on the lower teeth in order to minimize the risk of chipping a tooth.

SmartClip

A breakthrough in orthodontic treatment and comfort. Ordinary braces use “elastic bands” (technical name “ligatures”) to secure an archwire into a slot in each bracket. This is called ligation.

The bands can become stained or stretched. They also retain plaque and food particles, making it more difficult for you to keep your braces clean. And, your orthodontist will have to take these bands on and off to change or adjust the archwire during your treatment.

SmartClip braces are different.

They don’t use ligatures to hold the archwire...they’re self-ligating. Instead of elastic bands, SmartClip braces use small metal clips to hold the archwire into the bracket.

So you can forget about the problems associated with elastic bands.

Adult Options

Not only do we offer clear esthetic brackets, we also work with Invisalign® clear aligners for selected mild to moderately difficult cases. Invisalign® uses a series of clear aligners that are custom-molded to fit you.

The virtually invisible aligners gradually reposition your teeth into a smile you'll be proud of.

  • Remove your aligners to eat, brush and floss
  • Change aligners every two weeks
  • Your teeth move little by little
  • Regular progress checks with your orthodontist
  • Results often in 6 months to 1 year
  • Most people won't notice you're in treatment
  • Won't disrupt your lifestyle

Multidisciplinary treatment with other dentists and specialists.

Some of the makeover miracles you see on TV have been performed for many years right here in Portland.

Modern medicine and dentistry have combined talents to offer major dental and facial reconstruction. This began in the 1950s with jaw shortening surgery, but now jaws can be lengthened, shortened, straightened, and coordinated along with braces to guide the teeth.

Plastic surgery can revise soft tissue deformities. Often, these procedures are combined to avoid multiple operating appointments.

The good news is, most of these surgically assisted orthodontic and orthognathic (jaw straightening) procedures are done as outpatient procedures, often in a surgery center, not in a hospital.

Patients go home a few hours after surgery, and recover similarly to people who have had wisdom teeth surgically removed.

We have been associated with over 500 surgically assisted orthodontic procedures.

Impacted teeth

Most impacted teeth, other than wisdom teeth, can be moved into useful positions. Even in adults.

After exposure by an oral surgeon, they are simply guided toward their proper position with braces.

Since impacted teeth usually are part of an overall malocclusion, we find that the time to correct these problems is usually no longer than an average orthodontic treatment.

How long does it take?

Most orthodontic problems can be corrected in 14 to 24 months.

Many teens can be treated in 14 months, when we get to choose the proper starting time.

The chief cause of long treatment times in kids is starting too early, then waiting for teeth to erupt.

How much does it cost?

Fees vary, depending upon individual needs. The average fees in Portland, and 300 cities, have been published on the web at www.bracesinfo.com.

Note that fees for adults, and for surgical problems, are usually higher. Also, they consider youth to be an 8 year old, and adolescents to be 10-11.

Often, kids treated early require a second phase of treatment later. A good average for figuring your tax deferred compensation plan is probably $5600 in 2007.

Do I have to pay all at once? NO

We have many good ideas to help you with payment options.

There are no down payment plans, no interest plans, and extended payment plans available.

We also accept major credit cards, and work in conjunction with Flexible Spending Accounts.

You can afford braces! It is a gift that truly lasts a lifetime!

Concerning Insurance

We will gladly assist you in obtaining dental or medical benefits to which you are entitled.

If you bring the appropriate forms and numbers, we can often fax your claim instantly.

We do not have any contractual agreements with any third party insurer, which ensures you of our undivided attention to your treatment, not to an insurance company or management plan.

We are happy to provide fee estimates prior to actual treatment.
